In Mao Pop, I transform power into mass-media spectacle. The serious portrait of Mao, once a symbol of authority and ideology, bursts into a universe of comic-like colors, lines, and explosive “POP!” signs.
With this work, I merge Andy Warhol’s iconic portraits with the visual language of Roy Lichtenstein. For me, it is a collision of politics and pop culture, where propaganda and advertising become inseparably fused.
As Fenzolini, I see this as a striking form of iFusionism: great masters of art history flowing together into a colorful, visionary, and luxurious statement piece that is at once ironic and seductive.
